Take a look in play store at "tv sideview " by sony...

What is that???

3 sides with no bezels at all?

Thicker to accommodate new sensor and heat issues?

What is it?

But anyway, this may be the same sort of thing however geared only towards sony equipment.

Yup, exactly this - you can use your phone to remotely control your Sony tv (on the same network). It also provides a tv guide within the app)

I work for O2 but my comments and opinions posted here are solely my own and do not reflect those of Telefonica.

I think viridis was wondering about the phone shown in the image, not the function of the app?
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Yeah MI5 I thought the same thing that's why I commented on it and not the app.

Yes I'm sure he was. All modern smart phones can control all manner of things these days so not earth shattering at all.

Yes, you only need to observe a group of teenagers to appreciate the power of their control wink

I have an Universal Remote on my LG G2 so there is surely already some similar handsets with this feature. Virginmedia has TV Anywhere which lets you interact with your TiVo box and plan recordings from your mobile handset, pc or tablet.

We will have to see but the phone in the image does strike me as out of place

That's what I was getting at,
The image is of a sony phone and that image was only recently updated (before it was a different scene with a z3)
But that's no sony phone I've ever seen before, and sony as a rule do put real devices in the scene.

Looking again at it though, it's a Z2 with the screen image super imposed on top, just failed on the bezel at the bottom.
