Foreign mobile in UK

Anonymous

Hi, can anyone tell me what ringing tone I would hear if I rang a mobile number registered in Pakistan but the phone was in the UK. I am also in the UK.

Would I hear the standard UK tone (ring ring) or the foreign long tone?

Thanks

They always ring with the sound of the country they are in, so in this case it would be UK ring tone.

The reason I ask is because my iphone 4 was stolen a while back and it has apparently turned up in Pakistan! The guy sent me a message on whatsapp asking for the code to unlock it as it's in lost mode still. Needless to say, I wont give him the code.

I wasnt sure whether he was telling the truth or not so rang to see what ringing tone his mobile gave out.

He is now saying the phone has been unlocked and in use - but it hasnt been located when I log into icloud.

Did you have your 4 digit passlock on ?

Was the iPhone on ios7 ?

The activation lock would stop them using the iPhone with another sim if so.

The fact they are asking for the unlock sequence says it all. wink

To add if they have managed to circumvent the lockouts which I highly
Doubt then by removing your sim and deleting your Apple ID in the iPhone it will then show the iPhone as offline.

If it's open and they are using it then why would they ask for you to unlock it wink

Consider it Lost and claim on any applicable insurance is my advice.
