Contract up. Want to upgrade but keep old phone.

I have an iPhone 4s on a 24 month contract that ended yesterday. I want to upgrade to a newer iPhone and keep my old number. I know that is possible. But I also want to pass the old phone (without my current number) to my wife (who is a very light user). What's the best way of doing this please. TIA.

Just give her the phone, wipe it and set it up for her with her own Apple ID.
If she is already on O2 she can just use her sim if it's the correct size, or she can do a sim swap.
Any O2 HighStreet Store can perform the swap in store or a person can take the SIM card home or request one via O2 Customer Services. 202 for Contract. 4445 for PAYG. 8002 for Business -> http://www.o2.co.uk/contactus
Sim Swap link -> http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk
Be sure to ask for an Account Specific Blank SIM card as Contract and Pay As You Go versions hold different information.
The Service will stop on the original SIM card which indicates the swap has started. Turning the phone Off and On , or if applicable switching airplane mode On and Off ,with the new SIM card in every 20 minutes or so will typically help the connection to settle.
If she needs a new sim, look in the shop pages for either a monthly sim only or a payg sim.
If she is on a different network you need to unlock your iPhone first.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

The old phone is yours to do as you will.

If your wife is on O2 then all she does is use her SIM card in the iPhone. If she does not have the correct sized SIM card then any O2 shop can sort that. If she's not currently using an iPhone then she'll need to ask O2 to be put on iData settings and she'll need to set up an Apple ID via apple online.

Just go into an O2 store and choose your new phone and you can just give your wife the old one to use.

Or you can upgrade over the telefone by calling 202. slight_smile
