Cancel Contract

Hi all- My ex partner took out a phone contract with O2 out in his name that I have been paying for the length of the contract as I have been using the phone- I'm now at the end of the contract and want to terminate it but O2 are refusing to do so without speaking to my ex partner- that is not an option as we have had no contact in over 2 years - Is there a way I can end the contract without him being involved?

Non at all.
It isn't your contract so your ex needs to cancel.
If it's in his name if you stop paying. O2 will contact him on your behalf for payment as he is responsible for it.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

@Anonymous As has been said, you will have to contact your ex-partner. He is the only one who can authorise a cancellation, and the number you're using is his as well. Stopping payments could result in a negative marker put on his credit rating. If you want to set up a new contract for yourself in your name, you will still have to go through a credit check.

But you won't get to keep your number without contacting your ex either.

It's a tricky one indeed. What's your partners (ex) address on the contract in my O2. Has he changed it? If not, any debtor will be knocking on the door of the address registered there. You should really try to contact him even if only by letter.
