Got contract, when got fone my signal wasn't great but still able to get a signal here and there, now for the past 2 or 3 weeks, the nearest signal I receive to my house is 5 miles away, I am now paying for a phone that I cannot use, and with my wife pregnant, I may need a signal, sooner than later, wish this could get sorted out, or I may need to try another network again

Here is a self help thread http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-and-Pay-Go/Self-help-guide-Is-the-network-down-for-me-or-ev...

If you have home wifi and on pay monthly then consider Tugo.

http://www.o2.co.uk/apps/tu-go

Or as alternatives what's app and viber although the recipient will need these downloaded too.

You could PAC to another Network and O2 will then let you know whether you have fulfilled any contractual agreement you may have with them ,and apply the cancellation fee which is the remaining amount of months x contract amount. Could be costly. 😞

Switch phone to 2G only when at home and use WiFi for data.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Relying on a mobile signal, especially in an area where the signal isn't strong if you need a phone in an emergency, isn't really a good idea. You might want to think about a land line as a backup, particularly as you say your wife is pregnant.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

Good luck waiting for O2 to fix your signal. I waited 6 months and nothing was done. When I rang up apparently it was fixed. I gave up in the end and moved to three.

Or perhaps buy a cheap payg on another network as a back up?

Under the circumstances as the OP I would definitely be buying a cheap backup.

I've had the same problem with my iPhone since the 7.1 update, Apple said to try a new sim card, which O2 have sent me but it still is doing the same thing.

Turning the Phone on and off fixes it for a little while, but quite often people call me even when I have a full signal and it goes straight to voicemail (or calls through TuGo!)
