iphone 4 - changing from contract to pay & go - No SIM issues

I have just upgraded my iphone 4 to iphone 6 and have given my Mum my old phone to use. She is currently on O2 Pay & Go. I have put her sim into the phone but it is currently showing 'No Service' do i need to unlock the phone with O2 or change the settings.

If it's an O2 phone and an O2 sim there is no need to unlock it.
Just connect it to iTunes and it will install the correct carrier settings for you.

The phone will be set to contract APN ...settings are different for PAYG

Have a look here at how to change them

No service might mean there is an issue with the sim. If the sim wasn't accepted by the phone it would normally prompt for the unlock code. Did you cut the sim down?

May need an actual payg sim then perform the swap my sim either Instore or online
