Every time I plug my iPad 2 into sync with my MacBook Pro or iTunes sees it on wifi and starts to sync, I get this prompt: An update to the carrier settings for your iPhone is available. Would you like to install it now? I keep clicking yes, but the prompt keeps popping up, even tho when I check my iPad, it says I have 12.1, which is supposedly the most current version. It started a couple weeks ago, and happens EVERY time I sync, about 3 times a day. Each sync is held up by the prompt, for me to accept it. Syncing used to be seamless, it now needs me to "manage" every sync. I have done a complete restore on the iPad, but it hasn't solved the problem.
I have latest software on BOTH iPad and my computer (iOS, OS X Lion and iTunes).
I am on O2 Network in UK on iPad, and my Network for Internet is: BT
According to these threads on Apple's discussion boards, I am not the only O2 customer having this issue: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4032787?start

I've reported this to Apple... Silence. I expect no-one from O2 has a clue either.

Exact same problem here with the iPad 3, O2 sim, MacBook Pro, latest version of software on all of them....
Did anyone find a resolution to this? It's driving me insane!

This is driving me nuts now as well. Been happening for a solid 2 months or so with my iPad 2 and Macbook Pro.
Things I've tried:
- Applying the update through iTunes with iPad on 3G.
- Ditto but with my wifi connection.
- Ditto both above but with iPad connected to Mac by USB.
- iTunes reinstall.
- Restored to the oldest backup on iPad I could find.
- Mountain Lion upgrade on Mac (yes I know this isn't strictly speaking anything to do with the iPad but I'm in straw grasping mode right now).
The only thing I haven't yet tried is upgrading to the iOS 6 beta but have been reluctant to do that yet.
Asking in an Apple retail store and they say it's a carrier issue.
Asking in an O2 retail store and they say it's an Apple issue with iOS and/or iTunes.
I've cancelled my recurring monthly subscription with O2 (5 days left to go) and I'm either going to pick up an Orange/Vodafone/3 SIM, or stick to wifi.
Has anybody who did get this message managed to make it stop? And what did you do?

I have been having this problem for months now and it's really annoying me now, I rang O2 and was put through to 5 people the last of which said "that shouldn't be happening" - I was dumbdounded as he sat in silence waiting for me to respond. Eventually he said go in to an O2 shop and speak to them.
Yesterday I went to the O2 shop and told them telephone support had told me call in and see them, to which they repiled "They would wouldn't they?" I asked if they could help they said "No" I asked them for a new Sim card which they gave me.
I have just ordered a Vodafone Micro-Sim from their website and cancelled my O2 Mobile Broadband subscription. I will try Vodafone next month and see how that is.
