A bit strange me starting a thread about an Apple product but I am posting on behalf of a friend in Spain

She has just emailed me. Her daughter has bought an iPhone 6 today and was on YouTube..clicked on something which has apparently downloaded a pornographic channel to the phone.

The problem is all that is showing now is a page with all the daughters details stating 'Interpol; are now monitoring her and a message appears asking her to allow them to go into her contacts'

She now can't get into anything at all, Has she downloaded a virus?

What on earth can she do?

I don't think there is a phone or device in the World which is immune from hacking, being as the majority of them are connected to the internet in one way or another the whole time. Apple are (rightly or wrongly) just regarded as being less immune to these types of things than other devices

Hope she gets it sorted slight_smile

I don't care what rank I am and neither should anyone else.

@Mark_1980 when I relayed all this information back to her (in Spain) ....to say she was shocked is an understatement. Knowing I belong to this forum she came to me in the hope I would get back to her with a simple fix. She kept saying "but I only clicked on a link in YouTube"........ An expensive lesson learnt the hard way ....

I must say its one of the first examples of this I've seen on the community. Do let us know how your friend's daughter gets on @Cleoriff and I hope she sorts it out.

I will @Toby as I will need to give a solution. More importantly, I hope you noted the fame of this forum has reached people who live in Spain? Cheers

Also it's not a case of iPhones being immune to this sort of thing. It's a simple hack of the Apple I'd and password which could have been harvested off an insecure WiFi connection or any other way that hackers gain info.

Just an update to say there is no update as such.

My friends daughter left this phone with her Mum to 'please  get it sorted via Den and her forum' (such confidence) Happy Dance

She is using an old phone whilst she worked all day yesterday....and has not had chance to do anything at all.

I spoke with my friend last night who told me as soon as she knew the probable seriousness of the issue which I had relayed to her......she 'turned the damn phone off and wont touch it again until her daughter comes to collect it' (I know she hoped I would come back with something along the lines of 'click this, that and the other and that will sort it out) slight_frown

I will update you all as soon as I know anything else....

Yes...there is one in Malaga Airport and this one in Marbella

I get the feeling she may be trying to return to swap it out if she can....:smileywink:
