Am I correct in thinking that o2 have just significantly increased the up-front cost of an iPhone 5 on a two year contract? For instance the up-front cost of a 64gb iPhone 5 on a £26 per month contract is now shown on the website as £449. Last week it was £379.

On the face of it that may seem the case but just to expand a tad here;

When the iPhone 5 launched, online and over the phone, sales were provided by Carphone Warehouse to enable both channels to meet demand best they could.

Due to their pricing structre there was some price difference between O2's retail price and CPW online price.

As far as I am aware the agreement has now ended and all prices, online, direct sales and retail are O2's stock and O2's prices.

Hope this explains it a little.

But this means a £70 increase to the upgrading customer! Obviously we will have to look elsewhere for our new phones.

You still can upgrade with cpw if you want but remember the iPhone 5 will not work on O2's 4g network when launched in the summer.
