Hi, hope someone can advise me.  I was advised to update my apple software to improve the services available to me,  nearly got to the end and the phone has completely stopped downloading. I can't even turn the phone off now. Any help please as to what to do ?

Hold power and home button together for a few seconds and see if the phone recovers itself.
If not, plug it into iTunes and it should recognise that the phone needs recovering and do it for you.
If all this fails you need to reload the firmware in DFU mode, but try the above first.
