"Apple has just released iOS 7.1.1 for public consumption.

A maintenance update, iOS 7.1.1 contains “improvements, bug fixes and security updates.”

Specifically, it makes Touch ID even more reliable than the previous iOS 7.1 update, while fixing a pair of bugs related to keyboard responsiveness and Bluetooth keyboards with VoiceOver enabled."

There's also updates for OSX for anyone with a Mac. And an update to fix heartbleed for anyone with the latest gen of AirPort Extreme or time capsule.

I also read today that Apple have opened their beta program for OSX to anyone and not just developers. Hopefully they will eventually do the same for iOS as it would stop the black market for dev slots, which I've bought in the past as I have patience problems. It could also mean quicker (and more polished) final releases as more people will be able to report bugs to Apple

Certainly is @davethorp

Currently updating my MBA on OS X Mavericks.

The only concern I have with Beta is some don't understand that these iOS versions can be buggy and have come across people not happy as they are using their primary device for beta's which is a risk.

Also some don't understand about updating from one beta to another within a signing window.

I've noticed that in past updates.

I put it down to Apple making sure enough space is available on the device to allow breathing space for the current iOS to be removed and the updated one put on. (Possibly)

IOS needs to create an image of the old ios remove the old code then inject the small update to create the new ios version then it has to delete the old ios and then write the new ios hence the space requirement.

If however you do it via itunes it first downloads the whole complete version then just deletes the old and then writes the new ios to the device hence minimial space is required (as it has removed the old ios)http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4623
