Hi all

I bought an iphone 3gs from ebay. the guy told me that was locked to O2 but since I have a pay&go SIM card from O2 I tried and it works... My question is..Should I top up 20 pounds and make some calls and then complete the questionnaire to unlock the phone???

Or is it possible that the iphone was in a contract but the pay&go sim cards works as well??

What should I do???

If it's locked to O2 any O2 sim will work.

Not sure if the Pay & Go sim card you have is a really old one, but really old sim cards don't have the ability to connect/use 3G, if it is, you might need a new one.

When I got my first iPhone in 2009 I was given a new sim card for the reason I mentioned above.

This post explains how you can tell by looking at the sim card if it will be able to use 3G.

I'd check it with a different network SIM first to see if it is definitely locked. It might just save you the £15.00.
