It's alright looking at it in that perspective, but O2's stock is running low on devices such as the iPhone 4S and so this could be a reason why they have removed the Fast Track Upgrade option. They may have also removed it as most customers who were looking at a fast track upgrade may have already done it now. On the other hand, looking at Three's network. They do not offer as good coverage as O2 may be able to, and when looking at the speeds that you will achieve on 3G compared with O2, these will be a lot slower speeds on the Three network compared to O2.
All in all, you may have limited data on O2's network (there is always The Works Package @ £10/month offering 1GB of data and 50MMS), but the network speed will always be at an acceptable rate and you will receive 3G coverage in most outdoor areas. Just my opinion.

Bye bye O2, bye bye Apple iPhone.
Hello Galaxy Nexus SIM free with 3 £10 a month SIM only.
Glad I made the switch, the reception on 3 for me is miles better and I live in the sticks. And well, I'm sure you don't need me to tell you, but the GNex **** all over the iPhone and then comes back to curl one more off on it.

I take issue with your asessment of O2's 3G network, I have found it to be hopeless. Are you saying that Three offers a poorer 3G network than O2?
