Using wifi but still been charged

I have not used the Internet unless I have had connection to my wifi but I've still had credit taken. I have not left the Internet open or used anything that would need Internet use so am a bit confused as to why I have had credit taken. I assume it's charging for Internet because a pop up message came up randomly saying it will only cost you £1 for Internet use today. Can anyone explain what's happend and if I can sort it?

Re: Using wifi but still been charged

You may have to disable data on your phone to stop it connecting to the network other than by wi-fi.

O2 have no way of charging for wi-fi use.

Not roaming that's for abroad, it's the connection to the "mobile network" over Gprs that must be off.

If you can't disable it on your phone, alter or delete the APNs.

Re: Using wifi but still been charged

It's shown it's connected to wifi not to the network whenever I've used the Internet so just a bit of a shock when I saw my balance. Thanks for the advice though I'll do it now.

Re: Using wifi but still been charged

The problem can be that when your phone goes to sleep the wi-fi can too, it then goes back to Gprs automatically.

But the internet isn't active when the phone goes into sleep mode. I always make sure to close everything off and make sure I'm connected with the wifi before I use the Internet. I did what you said and I'm still being charged for it.

Re: Using wifi but still been charged

Also I have bad coverage in my house so I only have signal in certain spots. I've used the Internet in spots where I don't have enough signal to text let alone get into the Internet. Also I've used a app that does not charge to watch, this app will not let me watch the videos unless I am connected to the wifi. It pops up with a message if not connected to the wifi or the connection is broken. So I am obviously connected to the wifi. Aswell removing the information you said about.

Re: Using wifi but still been charged

Well something on your phone is accessing the network, this is not a wi-fi issue.

Well any idea what it could be seeing as nothing has changed on my phone? I've been on o2 for 2 years with the same apps for months and never had this issue
