Hi,
I wnt to buy an iphone from O2 on PAYG to be able to use in Turkey with a Turkish sim card. I have read on this site that it's possible to unlock the phone before 12 months by placing enough credit on and filling in a form, waiting 14 days etc.. etc..
However, I have been reading this forum and have seen that many people have had probs with O2 refusing to give the NUC code before the 12 months.
I am so confused, I am scared about purchasing because my phone will be useless without the NUC (I live in Turkey and need to use a Turkish sim with it)and £440 is a lot of money to waste.
What should I do?? Does anyone know for sure if I can definitely get this unlock code. Please advise asap.

Apart from ringing o2 customer services not a lot we can say untill people post on here that it has been done.

All we can quote is what you have read on the website.

o2 do not post on these forums it is just us customers helping other customers.

Put the phone in the toilet and flush.
Unlocks it straight away.

You don't get a code. You simply get a message anytme up to 14 days that tells you your phone is unlocked. You then have to put in a sim card from any other network and connect up to iTunes which will then complete the unlocking. If you are going to turkey make sure you do this first… unless you are taking you computer with you of course.

julie you should be able to get o2 to give you the unlocking code! but just remember you will need to import the phone in to turkey when you get back here or else the imei will be shut off and again you'll be left with a phone that's useless in turkey! and they'll only let you import a phone every 2years! ps i also live in turkey and in tend on buying a iphone to take back!

I will appreciate the help because i have a similar problem - i want to be able to use the iphone abroad . i intend to use on the o2 network for a couple of months but ultimately i will be taking it out of the country. What is this problem relating to importing or exporting iphones - i did not quite get that.

Last August I bought in London an O2 Iphone4 32GB. Few days later unfortunately I updated the software and now I can't unlock it because I'm Italian, I live in Italy, and I read that I should be in England to factory unlock it.
I don't have friends in England so I don't know what to do. Anyone knows if it's possible to send it to the O2 or to an O2 shop to make it unlock? (maybe send it with 20€ that is about 15£), a copy of my identity card and a copy of the purchase receipt?

It can not be unlocked unless active on the o2 network. That means it has to be used in the UK and then the unlock request sent. O2 do not need the phone, it is done remotely by itunes once Apple tell o2 the phone is unlocked.

Ok, I get it. But what if I don't know anyone in the UK? To whom I'd send my iphone? (Since I live in Italy).
Does O2 do these kind of things personally? Is it possible or not? (As I told I'd obviously pay)
