I updated my phone and ipad, but it seems most of my contacts numbers have gone, the contacts address etc are still there just the numbers have vanished, just wondered if anyone else has had a problem, thank you...

Not with mine.

Try holding the top button and home button until the apple logo appears and then let go which is a soft reset.

If no help;
Can you perform an update from an iTunes or iCloud back up.
