Re: The iPhone Unlock thread- Post your unlock questions her

Hello people i need to ask your opinion .
i ve just got an iphone 4 which is locked to O2.(pay as you go-current customer)
i filled the unlock form and i top up 15pounds to have my iphone unlocked.
After two days i got a message saying your iphone can now be unlocked-just swap a non sim card bla bla bla....
But when i sync it with i tunes nothing happens. i tried my flatmates 3 sim card and it gets signal!!Lol!! on the other hand when i am trying my Greek sim card it saying something about restriction from your provider.locked settings etc.
I went to o2 customer service and they forward my request to the technical team as they told me the phone is still locked.
Do u have any idea what is goin on?my 15 pounds were gone after 2 hours i had made the application form.
PS*in my previous iphone 3gs i had done the same proccedure without any problem.
The thing i am in hurry as i am going back to Greece on Saturday for holidays and i need my iphone to be unlocked asap!!

Thanks for your help
Aris

kotselar85: try performing a restore in iTunes with your Greek sim in it and see if you receive the 'congratulations your iPhone is unlocked' message

if it works with a 3 sim card i assume it would work with any other network right?
but i cant understand why o2 when i asked for my status they claimed that is still locked.

Re: The iPhone Unlock thread- Post your unlock questions her

Hi all,
I have an iphone 3gs which was on a contract, but I cancelled the contract and have moved to another phone on a different network. My iphone is lying unused at present.
I have a relative who would like to use my iphone, but they are on a different network. I have looked online but because my firmware is 05.16.02 it looks as though an open source unlocking solution is not available.
So - what are my options for getting the phone unlocked? Many thanks.

If it is no longer on contract get a PAYG sim, put £20 on it and then make a few calls to register the sim with the o2 network. Then fill in the online for and although they say within 14 days it is usually 2-4 and then they send instructions to unlock.
Which is basically with another carriers sim installed you need to sync to itunes.

Re: The iPhone Unlock thread- Post your unlock questions her

Hey guys,
I am currently in New Zealand with my iphone I got from a family member from the UK and I only just found out about this service. unfortunately I don't have the details and I'm sure not enough credit on this sim.
If I were to get a mate to purchase an o2 sim back in UK would it be possible?
That would mean that the sim would be used on a completely different phone to make the calls.
The iPhone has to be active on UK O2 network to be unlocked cannot be done if iPhone is outside the O2 area ie outside UK
http://www.o2.co.uk/unlockmyiphone

I am asking what someone has already asked because I searched the FAQ to see if it backed this statement up but it did not.
And i don't see any reason why it should need to be active on the network if all that is needed is a IMEI number sent to Mac and an Itunes upgrade on my end (can be done anywhere in the world! :smileysurprised: )
Any help would be much appreciated
Cheers!

Re: The iPhone Unlock thread- Post your unlock questions her

I need a definitive answer.
I owned an iPhone 3GS here in the UK, unlocked by O2 and verified as being unlocked as it worked with any UK sim.
I sold the device to a buyer in the UK using the reset feature on the device i 'Erased All Content and Settings' before handing it to him. He's travelled to Greece wanting to activate it there, he places a Greek sim in the device to connect to iTunes and activate but it says 'The sim card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported'. If he swaps the greek sim for a UK network sim the phone works.
Would a simple restore via iTunes enable him to activate successfully with a greek sim?
