Request To Unlock My Phone

Re: Unlatching Request - Kana Case ID: 685325747 (KMM1171371601I15977L0KM)

I originally sent in a request to unlock my I Phone from O2 so that I
can go with EE.
I received an email with the above Case ID saying that I did not have
enough credit to enable you to complete my request and that I need to
have £15 credit on the phone for it to be unlocked.
My concern with this is that if I Top Up £15 onto my phone then £10 will
automatically come off my balance for my Pay As You Go that I no longer
require. I do not mind paying the £15 so could you please advise on how
I can complete this request.
I would just like to explain my reason for me changing from O2 to EE.
I am in my sixties and over the last nine months my husband has spent a
lot of time in a local hospital on the outskirts of Hull having Major
Surgery for Cancer followed by Chemotherapy. All the time I was there
with him my phone always showed NO SERVICE but his phone which is EE
always had a good signal. This caused many problems because many family
members had been trying to reach me and it was not until I got a signal
after I had left the hospital that I realised how many texts & calls I
had missed because of NO SERVICE.
I look forward to your reply and advice on how to proceed with the
unlocking of my I Phone.

Okay. You've clarified the situation now, but you're still going to have to go through the process that has been suggested to you. I don't think there's any other way around it. If there is still any excess on your O2 P&G sim after you get it unlocked, your grandson can either use it until the credit runs out, or you'll just have to write off the extra money you've had to pay.

Many Thanks, just been reading about Big Talker and this looks like the option I need to take!!!! The only other way I guess is to top up on my Pay As You Go which will take the £10 off for the month and leave me £15 in credit, then let my Grandson use it for the month and when it is near the due date to be topped up again fill in the form to have it unlocked with the £15 Credit I have. Many Thanks for all your advice, I really appreciate it. Not nice getting old and not understanding technology!!!!!!

Hope you get it sorted out. Best of luck. If you have any other problems, please come back and ask. You don't need to be an O2 customer to ask questions here.

Just remember the tariff change won't take effect until your anniversary date, so request the tariff change now and then look in your My O2 http://www.o2.co.uk/myo2 to see when it will change.
Once the tariff has changed you then need to top up with your £15 and then request the unlock again.

i just go intouch with O2 and explained my contract came to an end and did an online chat.

The person was very friendly and did it for me for free but explained once activated it takes 7 days to work and after 7 days just put in your sim from another mobile phone provider

It's only free for contract phones.
You need to follow the advice given earlier in the thread.
