Loss of coverage is very wide spread and relates to type of handset I think

Hi, I can tell you that I came back from Oxford to Blackburn (Lancs) today and whilst my old company mobile phone had full 02 signal strength pretty much all the way homw, my personal iphone 4 lost signal at about 1.30pm and still can't connect. It seems to be the type of handset you have rather than location. 210 miles along the m40 and m6 and it was the same all the way. A bit like the Blackberry incident last year possibly?

Funny enough my IPhone 4 is unable to receive a signal, but my old blackberry phone is fine.

To keep everyone amused I found the following quote on the 02 website "Pssst… We're out there 24/7 to keep the network working, always"

The irony on here is enough to make me chuckle anyway.

Hi ! Haven't had coverage since lunchtime too. It's crazy as there is no explanation.

We have 3 iPhones, two on contract and one payg. One contract phone is working. The other two have no service. Clearly it not the phone or whether contract or payg, its probably a registration database issue. I have been with O2/Cellnet since February 1986.

Mine also Iphone handset - out in North London and has been for hours. You'd have thought they might have bothered with an automated message at the call centre to explain what was going on. Before I realised how widespread the problem was I'd phoned up to see if it was a problem with my account. It kept on looping that an adviser was getting to me - amidst the dreadful on hold music - but no explanation about network problems. Not even sure it was open - though it kept suggesting that it was. Half an hour later I gave up - there's only so much terrible on hold music one can listen to. What a mess.
