IPad abroad

I have 2 iPads, a 2nd gen and a new Air.
Both are 3G, the 2 has a dormant sim and the Air a new sim.
Both were/are £10/month 1g data.
The 2 always worked abroad, it gets the local carrier here in Austria now, but with no data as the payments have stopped.
The Air can't connect to any Austrian carrier, despite being a live data account being payed for.

Any suggestions? Various people on here say the data sims are UK only, so how come the old 2 worked, and still sees a carrier, but the new Air doesn't...???!!

It could simply be a case of data roaming not enabled on the sim. Customer service will enable for you.

Hi

As you say the data is for uk use so I'm not sure why that's happened.

You could try suggestions such as cleaning the sim, perform a reset.

Holding the Top Sleep/Wake Button and Home Button until the Apple Logo appears, and then let go of both. Your iPhone will reset.

And or ;

Settings , General , Reset , Reset Network Settings.

Or try a local SIM card in it or just use wifi when and where you can.

So are you saying the new one should work, or that the old one shouldn't...?!

I think you can use the ipad sim abroad but you will be paying roaming data rates but you have you call customer services to get roaming activated on the ipad sim

Also try Settings ~ Mobile ~ Toggle on Data Roaming.

I give up...

Back from Austria, called O2 and asked for iPad sim to be activated for roaming.

They insist that iPad sims have NEVER been able to work abroad!

I assure them my old one did, but the new one won't...

Looks like having to buy a pre paid sim onec I get aboad - what a pain...
