Re: It still does not work

Audio dropouts continue despite the posts on .....

I get precisely zero dropouts whilst streaming direct from the iPhone, not using the dongle which isn't going to fix itself by magic.

As for correcting the glasing LED it became pretty clear that IO Play have poor Aftersale service so I wouldn't hold my breath. I fixed mine by putting some tape on it, but I don't use it now.

It still does not work

I'm glad that you came up with an engineering solution with the tape, I'll do that too. Unfortunately in my case the audio drop-out occurs regularly on the iPhone either with a dongle OR streaming direct, it occurs regularly on the iTouch with a dongle, AND, at least for one hour this morning, it seems to be absent with a borrowed iPod and the same dongle.

fade/balance

does the io play have the ability to fade the music from front to back in the car, and is there any way that traffic reports can cut in over the io play?

No the IO Play has it's own amplifier which has no controls for Fade, balance, bass or treble. It sits between the cars native stereo system and it's speakers, the IO is therefore able to mute the stereos output, but there is no method for the radio to retake control for traffic reports etc.

As I said in my original post the IO Play is an excelent solution if for some reason you cannot replace your cars stereo, however fitting an iPhone conectable head unit to the car will always be the better option when available.

IO Play

Hi All

This might be a late reply to add to this post, but i have recently fitted the IO Play to my girlfriends Fiesta having removed it from her Corsa. I also have problems with the music cutting out, but i don't have an iphone, i have an ipod 5th gen.

We oringinally purchased the IO because my girlfriend didn't want to change the radio in her Corsa and i couldn't get a cable to fit the the standard radio and handsfree is now the law, so it means she can now talk and drive as well.

I have found that unfortunatley the sound quality from the IO is not great, unless you leave the sound down really low and would like to know if IO have/would do an upgraded amp??

I have just recently upgraded my phone and now have the Nokia 5800. I have paired my phone with IO, so it automatically connects, but i find that sometimes it doesn't pair automatically, other times it pairs soon as i turn the ignition on and other times it's slow at pairing. What really annoys me is when it pairs and also pairs for music streaming as if it thinks i am playing music from my phone, which then means i can't connect my ipod, so i have to turn my bluetooth off on my phone, wait for it to disconnect from IO then start my ipod playing and then reconnect my phone. If my ipod connects before the phone it's fine.

I have also found the radio now comes up with 1 HOUR, as if the ignition is off when it's on, this might be something to do with the SOT lead i ahd to fit, but this i can put up with.

I have also put my ipod in the glovebox now, as it seems to cut out more (like the problems people who have iphone's are having), when it's down near the ashtray (closer to the IO kit). The bluetooth transmitter also drains my ipods battery and then starts to cut out more again as my ipods power reduces. I have tried an alternative Sony transmitter, but unfortunatley this leaves me with no control of the ipod (as it's only connected via 3.5 jack) and the sound quality is no better either.

I am starting to regret getting the kit and would prefer a direct connection to the radio, as i have in my Astra, which powers the ipod and i have control through my kenwood radio, which also gives me great sound quality. I am considering just getting a simple handsfree that plugs into the cig lighter for my Astra and overall i think this would be the better way to go and cheaper, so now i need to convince my girlfriend the next time she upgrades her car.

If all 4 speakers aren't working in your car, then IO won't work properly as i found out when we first fitted it to the Corsa. If you have any questions you want to ask me feel free, i fitted the kit myself, which is fairly easy, the main problem is the cars space behind the dash and where to put the contol units.

My advice would be only get IO if you have no other option!

IO Play

i have a slightly bizzare problem with my iphone and io play,

when starting to play music, its usually too loud, if i turn the volume down, io play turns the volume up, if i turn the volume up, it still goes up. It will get louder and louder until its unbearable and will then disconnect. it will then reconnect and repeat the process.

after a while (10-15 minutes) it might be ok, until i get out of the car, go do something, then hop back in...

anyone else have issues like that?

Hi All

First post here.

Yes, been experiencing exact same problem. IO Play worked fine with my original 2G iPhone, but plagued with problems with 3Gs.

Can't use Track Forward/Track Back buttons on IO Play dash switch. Problems with drop-out/total loss of control with volume - just about everything that everyone on this post has experienced. May have to go back to using my old 2G for music in the car! LOL!

IO Play

Freaky, I was going to look for this thread as 16 months after purchase I'm having the same problem. Turn on the IO play and music is deafeningly loud and the volume control is either unresponsive or turns the volume up even more no matter which way you spin the dial. I have fairly recently upgraded to a 3gs from a 3g. This is an intermittent problem so it's hard to work out where the problem lies. I've reset the IO play by holing both the red and green buttons for about 10 seconds. I'm also currently playing with switching into iphone mode and out
(holding both buttons for about 3 seconds until you get one or two beeps to indicate which mode your in) However I'm not sure which mode is which and I never understood what the difference between the two modes was supposed to be.

The forward and back buttons have never worked without the IO play dongle as Apple have never included the AVRCP bluetooth profile they need.

IO Play

Hi All

I have now stopped connecting my Ipod to IO and find it easier to let my phone connect automatically and use my music player on my phone to listen to music through IO and I am finding it much easier. It does use my phone's battery power a lot though and i need to leave my music player app on, but it means i can pause the music when i get out of car and simply start it again where i left it, without plugging any silly dongle in, I'm using the NOKIA 5800.

I also do have some issues with controlling the volume on the IO Control Panel, as the volume does go up when your turn the wheel left for the volume down.
