what do I need to do to set up my iPhone 5 to send photo via text message?

Firstly you need to check that your iphone is set up to connect to data services. Have a look at this link..

Also...as I understand it pictures are always sent through MMS not normal SMS

Go to Settings/Messages and verify that MMS messaging is turned on.  Then make sure your mobile data is turned on also.

Go to settings>messages>turn mms on.

MMS cost 35p a message but you could use whatsapp or FB Messenger which is free

You don't need to do anything. Unless you've changed any settings it is set up by default.

Ahh well. I just presumed they had tried to send them and couldn't...hence my 15 minute google search...Smiley Frustrated
