Email service activated via 21203?

When I dialled 21201 instead of 21202 by mistake on my iPhone 3G (I was trying to get an update on remaining minutes and texts), I received a text reply from 02 which said "You have no email with the given ID", then a minute afterwards, a text from 21203 saying "Your email service is now on".

Does anyone know what this means? I have an iPhone on Simplicity Sim with unlimited web access, so any emails I send or received are via this method. I'm concerned that 02 have turned on a chargeable email service/facility that I don't want or need. If that is indeed the case, how do I get this switched off and/or who at 02 should i email or phone?

Many thanks.

Email service activated via 21203?

It looks like a chargeable facility, it was mentioned on the forum here:

Email service activated via 21203?

Many thanks SV, I'll give them a call first thing in the morning. Just by sending a text to 21201 instead of 21202 seems to have activated 21203 automatically. I hope this isn't some underhand way of charging customers because of a slip of dialling.

21201 charges

In case anyone, like me, made the error of hitting 21201 instead of 21202 when trying to get an update on remaining minutes on your 02 plan, be careful because this is a premium service which a) charges you 8.5p for sending each text, and b) charges you 8.5p per text when 21203 texts you back to say that you are now enrolled on a email-to-text service. If you have any problems call 02 customer service on 0800 977 7027. They say that to stop this, i had to send a text to 21201 with the message 'STOP', but best double check with them first.

Email service activated via 21203?

Do you know exactly what the service is? Seems strange it's not advertised and you stumbled on it by accident.

Still, at least they only charged you the standard o2 interactive message rate of 8.5p

Email service activated via 21203?

Email service activated via 21203?

Fair enough :smileyhappy: Still seems strange it's not a widely advertised service, but at least it didn't bankrupt you like some of these £3 a message services :smileyhappy:

It is going mad we have just been on the O2 guru about this and they have credited us with £2 I think it's bad that they can do this to people when they just press 1 wrong number x
