I have ordered a sim free iPhone 6s Plus My current device is iPhone 4

Can I transfer the SIM card from the 4 to the 6 and keep my number

Yes, but you will need a nano sim.
Easiest way is to pop into any O2 shop and they will do it for you or you can order a sim from CS and do the sim swap yourself http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk/

or by texting SWAP to 20220 from your old sim card/phone.

They may supply anano sim with the phone in which case just do the sim swap.

Have a look at your present sim, if it's a fairly recent tri-sim you may find you can simply press out the nano sim.
