Just got my iPhone 5 and swapped the sim from my 3G. All seemed to be working OK except I could not send texts or get on the internet via 3G. Sorted the internet access by changing the APN codes as I am pay as you go. Still can not send texts though. Tried all the resets I can find or think of even reloaded the iPhone software all to no avail.

There should be no reason why u are not able to send sms. Is the SIM card you have prep popper nano sim? This may sound like daft a question, you do have credit own the phone? Also if some one tries to SMS u, does that get through to you?

It's very strange isn't it. I got the nano sim from an O2 store and I thought I might have run out of credit for some strange reason So i checked and that wass fine.
I'm getting SMS's without any problem and I can make receive calls as well.
I am stumped now hence posting on here, thanks for the welcome by the way.

Your problem is probably the Message Service Centre Setting - see here
You need to enter the correct number and the way it is done is by dialling a code followed by the number - problem is I can't remember the code. I was talked through it by an O2 online help guy. I suggest you try the online help as well

Try this using your dial pad, Make sure you press the call button after each!:
*#5005*7672# this tells you the message centre number installed in the handset
P&G should show : +447802092035
If it doesn't, type in the sequence below.
##5005*7672# this deletes the message centre number
Then **5005*7672*+447802092035# (for prepay customers)

Thanks for that it worked perfectly. Did have to do it a couple of times because my eye to finger contact is not so good. I got the same message as the previous guy but it worked anyway.

I purchased a pay and go Iphone 5 on 29/11/12 and every time I turn the phone off txt messaging fails and setting revert back to Pay Monthly settings, so far I have phoned o2 5 times for it to be reset, but the phone (or wherever the settings are held) does not retain them. Does anyone know of a permanent solution ?
