Cant receive international texts - help!

ok so my b/f lives in canada, we have been texting fine for the last 7 months, all of a sudden 3 days ago i can no longer receive his texts. he is receiving mine and calls and working fine. he can text my mums o2 phone and she recieves them fine. i swapped my sim card and put it in mums phone and hers in my phone (i have an iphone by the way) and texts to her number in my iphone came through fine but texts to my number in her phone didnt come through. i updated the software on my phone, checked with o2 about network issues and also got a replacement sim card and still texts from him are not coming through. we also tried one of those online text services and they didnt come through either. o2 customer services dont seem to have any idea what to do next and neither do i! - its not the hardware, the software, the sim card of the network - unless the problem is with the network and it is my number specifically but then surley o2 would know something about it? anyone had this issue before or have any ideas on what to do??
thanks!

Cant receive international texts - help!

I am having the same problem with the same results. I have been told that the phone in Canada may have blocked my number but MTS (Canada) say that texts are leaving Canada and that as far as they are concecerned the fault lies this side of the pond. I will no doubt be back in touch with 02 customer services without much success no doubt

Cant receive international texts - help!

same problem here. ppl were texting me from all over the globe and i didnt get anything. called up customer services and they suggested it could be the phone or the sim card, both of which i've swapped, and nothing. fortunately, two days ago, all texts started flowing again to my phone and now everything is back to normal. who knows what the issue was....

Cant receive international texts - help!

Sometimes forcing your phone onto another network can cure the problem.
The below extract is taken from the O2 support pages here.

Manual network selection:
Forcing your mobile to logon to a different network, then back to O2 refreshes your mobile's connection to the O2 network and helps push through undelivered messages. To perform a manual network selection, in the 'Network Selection' settings of your mobile select 'manual'. Your mobile will search for available networks. Select Vodafone and you will receive an error message similar to 'Connection Failed'. Repeat this again, but select O2 and you will receive a 'Success' message or something similar.
Provided there are no network faults in your area and your mobile/SIM are not faulty, any undelivered SMS will come to your mobile within a few minutes (for information on how to do this, check your user guide).
If you have tried all the above and are still experiencing problems receiving text messages please click on the 'Call Us' or 'Email Us' link below and be sure to include the following information:
• Alternative contact number
• Duration of problem
• Error message, if any, received

Same issue for the last 8 to 10 months...

I'm in BC, Canada. My daughter lives in the UK and is with O2...texts she sends me come thru fine, but my text to her do not. I've contacted my provider, and they tell me my texts are getting to the "International hub"...some sort of clearing center for global texts contracted by cell providers, but dead ending there. My daughter changed from Orange to 02 keeping the same number, and the techs. at this end say that my messages are somehow getting routed to Orange and not O2. When my daughter called, as you've mentioned, they didn't seem to have a clue what to do!!!!
Customer service and/or their technicians need to buck up and fix this problem....I didn't realize I wasn't alone with this issue. Have you actually spoken to a tech about the problem? And if so, what was his/her response? Are they looking into it? I
ve tried to get a phone number to call the technical department directly but no joy...I want to resolve this issue. You guys are paying for a service(International texting) that obviously has bugs. They need to sort it out!!!!!
Frustrated!!!!!

I think that you will find that SMS cannot be guarenteed cross network, let alone across network & country.

Surely.....

My sister in law travels all over the world on business...based in the UK and on Vodaphone, she can both receive and send texts from anywhere she travels....maybe it's time to think about changing providers for those with this issue?? In this day and age sms SHOULD be guaranteed wherever a suitable signal is available. just my 2 cents.

Exact same here. It happened after my phone was stolen, SIM card was blocked and got a new one. My girlfriend in Montreal (Fido) sends me texts to O2 uk which i never get. She receives mine, but I don't a delivery report. Been told the same BS by O2 customer support, so I emailed an official complaint to get it sorted out... Did anyone find a solution...?

Re: Cant receive international texts - help!

I see this was an old issue but it's one I'm having now too. I've just done the re-registering on the network thing but that's not pushed through my missing texts....did you get it fixed and how, please ?
Cheers, Lynda~
