I've returned from Holiday but I cannot text or call on my 5s and I'm wondering if I messed something up when I updated my carrier settings.

I see the usual ooooo O2-UK in the top left but texts fail and when I dial calls fail instantly. I have observed the ooooo on my wife/daughters 5's are filled in Black, mine are not (not sure if relevant). I called O2 support but they offered little assistance.

I've tried resetting my network settings, airplane on/off, removing SIM, etc but nothing seems to work.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi

Check your service status here to ensure your masts are ok http://status.o2.co.uk

Check your my02 to ensure you have some allowances left.

I see you contacted O2 customer services via telephone , 202 contract or 4445 payg and they say all
Is ok with your account.

Sometimes a SIM card fails and an O2 store can sim swap for you which moves your number and tariff to a new SIM card. This takes from a few minutes to approx 24 hours to settle.

Or you can take a blank account specific SIM card home and do the process yourself here http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk

Can you check your SIM card in another phone. You can pick up free sim adapters from any O2 shop to make your nano sim into a micro sim or normal one to try in another type of phone. Process of elimination.

My carrier reading is 02 16.0

You could either visit an O2 store and a guru will look at it or book an appointment with an apple Genius Bar if your apple store is local here http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/geniusbar/

Try removing the sim once again and give it a wipe down.

To add how to update carrier settings is here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1970

And check your still Not locked to the foreign network by checking :

Settings ~and look to see if 02-UK is shown. Press on it anyway and choose automatic.

Empty ooooo's mean it's not registered on network.
Try manual network selection first (select the wrong network, wait for fail notice, then select O2), followed by a sim swap if all else fails....
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
