Hi

Try a reset of your iPhone by ;

Holding the Top Sleep/Wake Button and Home Button until the Apple Logo appears, and then let go of both. Your iPhone will reset.

And or ;

Settings , General , Reset , Reset Network Settings.

Turn your phone off, remove the sim and clean it, turn back on.

Also check here http://status.o2.co.uk

If no change phone Cs to have your account checked over.

Have you had the phone from new or did you get it secondhand? If the former, might be worth checking it hasn't been barred or blacklisted - ie reported as lost or stolen. I had that with an iPhone 5 I got from CEX, but they exchanged it for another one.
