I've been given another new iPhone 3g and I'm having exactly the same problems as before - no voice calls at all, callers get diverted straight to voicemail, new phone, healthy battery, good signal.
While I was on hold for a total of 2 hours on and off with o2 this evening I've read though hundreds of posts in several forums about the same subject to see what themes I can see running through the problem.
By far and away the most common is the push setting for email. I have now alternated about 15 times between "push on" and "push off"Without exception, the phone rings every time its turned off and diverts to voicemail each time its turned back on.
I've been living with this since June and can't tell you how relieved I am to have a phone that rings again, essential in my business.
Turn push on and off and dial yourself each time you do it. Works well for me, hope it does for all of you.
Found a fix: (hoping it's a temporary one!!)
Set up as new phone, synced one service at a time. Everything was great until I set up my mobile me mail account, after that all calls starting going to voicemail. So after a bit more testing I've narrowed it down to turning off push
As soon as this was turned off phone started ringing again tested with 10 calls, all 10 rang. Turn it back on again all calls go to voicemail. Seems to work OK with "Fetch" turned on. Let's hope this problem gets resolved soon.
Just got to settings->mail,contacts,data. Underneath your account it should say Fetch New Data. If it does not touch it and turn Push to off. Also scroll to the bottom of the page and touch advanced. Make sure your account is also set to fetch here as well.
Yes, totally agree with you. And thank you very much. I had exactly the same issue and the minute I switched OFF the PUSH all calls came in normally. It is wonderful.... Really wonderful.... I was looking for what was causing calls to be diverted to voicemail.. thanks a lot.
