To AJ84, No, none of the three iPhones I've had have been jail-broken, and yes, the restore was the first thing I was told to try by O2.
I've since been told by another advisor to try resetting the network settings on the phone each time I have a problem with calls not coming through, my argument was, it would be too late once I know I've missed a call, however, I've tried it a couple of times, and as far as I can see it makes no difference!
To O2tel, I will be cancelling my O2 contract as they are not providing the service I'm paying far too much for! I cannot even make or receive calls, or send and receive texts reliably, and the voicemail messages left when their network doesn't allow calls to come through, despite having a good if not full signal don't come through for hours!
The problems it's caused when someone sends me a text saying they need picking up in 15 mins, I don't receive the text for ages, ok, so the network providers often cover themselves, saying as long as it is delivered within 72 hours they aren't responsible for them being late etc etc, a terrible condition as far as I can see, it should be instant, and if not, why not, especially if your still paying for your text messages on Pay As You Go. So then after the person realises I'm not coming or haven't received the text, they may try the more reliable calling me, only to find it goes straight to voicemail, so they may leave a message, or get annoyed, assuming I have my phone switched off. Then I may not get the voicemail for several hours. An utter disaster, which has cost me dearly in upset people, being late, people not being able to get hold of me, missed deliveries, the list goes on.
O2, get your act together, you've unlocked my iPhone, thank you, you strung that out for the full 14 days though! Now I can test all the other networks, once I've found the most reliable of the networks in my area, expect to be ending my contract early, as you have not net your side of the contract terms and conditions, the service is not what I am paying for! Infact, I deserve some money back, as you've been overpaid in comparision to what you've supplied. Also recently the data side of your network has been terrible, with a couple of days the entire data network was unusable!
I suggest others vote with their feet if you are being ignored by O2 about this matter, being fobbed off by being told to restore your phone, turn 3G off etc etc. I've jumped through all the hoops, it's cost me more time, they still get paid each month, I'm still getting a terrible service and an unreliable network on O2. So, I'm leaving O2 at the earliest possible opportunity, and I WILL NOT under any circumstances be paying to end the contract early, it's their fault and I won't be penalised for it.
