Bad call quality after ios 8.3 upgrade

Anonymous
Not applicable

is anyone else having this problem

i have updated my iphone 6 to iOS8.3 & when i make a call i get a buzzing / distortion noise when the caller has a deeper voice or when the volume is up from medium to loud & this is on the earpeice ONLY & not the loud speaker.

i have restarted the phone, i have reinstalled 8.3 i have tried logging off/on the phone network, i tried a sim from a different network & nothing cures it.

i have tried with 'Phone Noise Cancelation' off that didnt cure it. i then tried switching on the 'Hearing Aid Mode' which turned off 'Phone Noise Cancelation' & now the buzzing distortion is not there & the quality is good again.

i downgraded back to 8.2 & no buzzing/distortion & call quality is clear.

Not noticed it on my daughters 5s and no one else reported it on here on a 6 either.
It sounds strange but it appears the software is over driving the earpiece speaker.
I think I would be calling Apple for help if Google didn't turn anything up.

Maybe it was a bug within the update that affected a few but I haven't had this issue

So one of the guys on the Apple forum found it was his screen protector covering the earpiece...

And another one... after visiting the Genius bar ..found it was a hardware issue and was given a new phone! Bit of a difference in problem and solution there then....:smileywink:

Flicked through that link and it appears the guy from the UK cured his problem by downgrading back to 8.2 ie......

I'm in the UK

i have already tried the 4G 3G 2G toggle , didn't make a difference bad call quality remains.

i have downgraded back to 8.2 & all is well.

How did this get passed Quality Control !, it's not like you can miss it.

i know most people probably send texts but some of us do actually make phone calls.
