4S - Poor signal strength and slow 3G

Anonymous
Not applicable
My phone is forever dropping calls. The O2 coverage map says I should get good signal where I live and also strong 3G. I hardly get 3G at all.

Today at work we had three iPhones next to each other. One on three one on t-mobile and mine on O2. We ran speedtest on all of them.

The one on three got a ping of about 100ms, download 8mb, upload 3mb.

The one on t-mobile got a ping if 130ms, download of 4mb and upload of 1.5mb.

Mine on O2 hardly connected. After several failed attempts to get speedtest to even connect to a server, I got 600ms ping, 0.0mb upload and 0.01mb download.

I got the same results each time I tried.

I had 3 bars and 3G showing. The others had 5 bars.

To send picture messages I have to change my phone setting so it shrinks the image size before sending.

This is not on at all!! I thought i2 weren't meant to be the best?!

I have the same issues at home. Have tried other O2 sims with same results.

Why won't O2 sort out their rubbish network?

The post code is dl14. I'm meant to get Good Indoors & Outdoors with 5 bar for 2g and 3G.

I'm getting 3 bars.

My home is DH1 and its exactly the same results as above according to the checker.

Although signal is most of the time 2 or no bars and 3G is rarely available.

I can send a picture message with reduced image size if I keep the phone on top of the fridge and don't move it until the picture has sent.

People to send me a pic is almost impossible.

Exactly the same with my wife's iPhone on O2.

It is always better to put the full postcode into the checkers so you can see locatopn of masts in relation to exact post code the first part may cover a very large area served by many masts

I put the full code in for my own coverage checks but only posted the first part for privacy on here.

They must have had problems with the masts since I moved to O2 as its been always rubbish. In particular at dh1. I used to get some 3G at dl14 but very poor.

Agreed, My postcode area covers a large area and status checker says full signal for 2g, 3g and 3g900 although in reality I get 1-2 bars of 2g if the wind blows in the right direction!

without a full address the postcode is anonymous unless it is a business with a dedicated postcode ours covers over 30 properties.

If you do not want to share the full post code just copy the text and graphs as others have done and remove the postcode
