Hi,
I have an O2 open card through my employer, but in the O2 shop today was told that I can't take advantage of it with the new iphone 3gs. I called up staff services at 02 who told me the same thing and that O2 have scheduled a meeting for the 19th July to discuss this issue (with no guarantees that it would become available). I'm a bit confused as to how some of you have managed to get this discount?

Well, it appears that using the open card with an iphone 3gs contract has been suspended. Rang two shops this morning and was told the same thing. Both did, however, mention that the 'ban' may be lifted again in the near future. On that note, I think am gonna hold out for a month or two to see how things pan out. The new HTC hero has caught my eye and, given its release date is supposedly July, may be an alternative for me.

I have had the same problem with the open card 30% line rental discount. I think its really unfair that they have done this. As a result i have decided to go on Orange and get a Blackberry instead, as did my partner and her parents.

Does anyone know if you can get the O2 open to apply to online tarriffs?

I use roughly 800 texts a month and don't want to have to waste a bundle on going for unlimited texts, obviously online you get 1000 texts, whereas instore you only get 500 (non iPhone tarriffs here).

I've had this problem too, its the only thing stopping me from taking out a 3GS contract right now

I have phoned 4 O2 stores over the last week and all of them say the 3GS is excluded from O2 Open since a week after launch!

One of the store said it was excluded due to the current stock shortages, this is true?

I phoned staff accounts and they said maybe 19th July it will be included but thats with no promises!

I'm not taking the plunge until they include it again!

I was going to buy it on the release date but decided to wait a week because I was going on holiday. Came back to find out that they have stopped this discount on the 3Gs. I am soo annoyed and thinking about sticking with T-mobile and upgrading to blackberry.

It's ridiculaous, you would think O2 want more people to buy the iphone, but they are going to end up putting more people off this way.

Agghhhhh.. Out company contract is with o2 - I don't know about this scheme. Where can I find out if I get a discount, and if in fact I can get this applied to my contract?

Same problem for me--I've had to wait because my girlfriend (who works in McDonald's) was away... and now I'm not able to get it!

grrr from me too. Was all set to use an Open code this weekend and now told by four O2 shops it can't be done.

this has really annoyed me too, i got my o2 open code today and after i logged into their portal i was told it cant be used on the 3gs, but only 3g. i dont really see the logic in this as they both use the same tariff?! i hope o2 lift this ridiculous ban soon....
