Wondering if anyone else is havin the same problem, i downloaded kies on my laptop and plugged usb in to my phone and laptop, it registers my phone with kies ( samsung s2 ) and the firmware is there ready to download but its telling me that i have to update kies first, i updated kies and it reloaded only to tell me i had to update kies again, ive done this 8times now in total and its still saying to update kies, i had the ICS update on my old phone but got a replacement and want it back on but it wont let me do it through the phone handset it only let me do it through kies? anyone help?

All I can suggest is that you completely remove Kies (including running a registry cleaner) and redownload it to try again. There are occasional problems with the Samsung server which can give issues so trying again at a later time might help. Make sure you download the Kies file directly from the Samsung website and not a mirror.
