Re: Xperia Ray ICS

Just out of curiosity I spoke to a guru tonight using chat. I said we keep been given different information. He listed models that would get the update (none of which were Sony branded) and there were no plans to release ICS for Xperia Ray. I ended the chat and officially give up!! :smileysad:

Re: Xperia Ray ICS

To follow your post up I did the same; I was completely suprised when I got different info. :smileyhappy: I got told they were still testing it. I think we will get it but obviously a LOT later than everyone else (the risk of not getting the iPhone on O2). Also out of curiousity I asked why it isn't listed in the O2 mobile guide which is usually where you can find a list of the updates released for each phone, I got told becuase it's a newly released phone the site hasn't been updated. There was then no response when I said it wasn't a new phone and it's been out for almost a year and I got mine in october :smileyhappy: Obviously the departments don't communicate as I've said we probably will get ICS, if we don't O2 will probably loss a hell of a lot of customers seeing as Sony's a big manufacturer and the Xperia Ray (and the Xperia range) isn't exactly a low end range of phones which you'd buy just for the phone not any other features.

ive just spoke to a guru and they had this to say. hope it helps youse.
Zowie:
Please give me a moment while I give you the correct info.

Zowie:
We haven't receive any confirmation on ICS so in that case you can confirm with the sony ericsson or visit their website.

chrissy:
sony ericsson released the update in april. on their website it says the update is available but because my phone is o2 branded its not allowing me to download it

Zowie:
Please give me few minutes while I check it with my supervisors about this.

chrissy:
ok thanks

Zowie:
Thanks for waiting.

chrissy:
no problem

Zowie:
As I've confirmed with my superiors that ICS is not yet updated and not available currently on our Pay & Go services.

Zowie:
So in that case you can keep checking our website to get the details for that.

chrissy:
ok thanks for your time

Zowie:
Once It is available on Pay & Go you can get your phone upgraded.

Zowie:
You're welcome.

Re: Xperia Ray ICS

[ Edited ]

Chatted to an O2 advisor on Chat today and here is the conversation (she had no idea what I was talking about and twice presumed I was talking about other brands of handset...)

Paul Stephens: Hi there

Emelie: Hi I'm Emelie. How can I help?

Paul Stephens: O2 seems to be the only network that hasn't released the ICS (Android 4) update for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray

Paul Stephens: I have looked on several forums and spoken to O2 several times regarding this, but always get told different information.

Paul Stephens: Are you able to shed any light on this?

Emelie: yes we have released ICS only for Samsung Galaxy S2

Paul Stephens: My question is about the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray

Paul Stephens: Is there any news when it will be released for this phone to O2 customers?

Emelie: We have released ICS update aonly for Samsung Galaxy S2 and to HTC models.

Emelie: Sorry we don't have any inforamtion about Iphone. When come it will be highlighted on the O2 website.

Re: Xperia Ray ICS

I had a similar experience yesterday, the person I spoke to seemed to get fairly annoyed after I said I didn't want to be fobbed off with the testing excuse yet again, they told me to phone customer sevices??? I thought the point of a web chat was to skip the tedious cycle of pressing 1 then 2 and whatever else it asks for on the phone. About the GS2 I know someone who has one on o2 no ICS there either. They just don't care to provide a customer service.

Re: Xperia Ray ICS

[ Edited ]

Worryingly, Sony are no longer updating their list of phones to update:

http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/38358

When I went back to the link today, the section that read 'we are no longer updating this list' has vanished.

I have emailed O2 today with a long email, explaining about all the misinformation and I'll post their reply once I hear back from them.

Re: Xperia Ray ICS

Here's the email reply - not sure if it means the update is out now (because I've tried and can't update) or that it won't be long...
Hello Paul

Thanks for your email.

Please be assured, the ICS update is available for Sony Ericsson
handsets.

When the automatic update feature is activated on your Sony Mobile, a
notification appears in the status bar every time an update becomes
available. To activate the automatic update -

Select

Home screen, tap the Application screen icon
Find and tap Update centre
Press the Menu key, then tap Settings
Tap Allow automatic update: and select whether to download updates via
3G and Wi-Fi networks, or via Wi-Fi networks only.
Updates will now download automatically as soon as they become
available.

If you're facing any issue in updating to ICS, please visit your nearest
O2 store. To locate your nearest O2 store, please visit the link below:

http://o2.asymmetry.co.uk/

I apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience in
this matter.

If there's anything else I can help you with please let me know.

Regards

Pankaj
