Text Messaging Issue with Microsoft Lumia 650.

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I have an issue with my Lumia 650 purchased recently.

The phone runs an 02 pay monthly SIM & is set to that under Mobile Operator Settings.

However, the SMS centre number keeps defaulting back to a pay & go number ending "2035".

This prevents me from sending text messages.

The correct SMS centre number for pay monthly ends "0332". I can change this manually but within

a couple of hours the phone automatically changes this number to "2035" & I'm back to square one!

My service provide has confirmed that the network settings are correct for text messages & advised that it is the phone that keeps changing the SMS Centre Number.

How can I change this number permanently in my phone????

Many thanks,

Rod.

Definitely the sim card wrong type which will revert to inbuilt message centre number at every start or reboot.

You have a PAYG sim card.
Pop into an O2 shop and change it for a contract one, it's free.

Hey @Anonymous how did you get on with the text message issue in the end? Did MI5 or Cleoriff's advice help you out?

Hi Marjo,

A phone reset has not cured the problem so I need to try a replacement SIM.

Not sure this will work as the SIM I have is already pay monthly.

My phone keeps defaulting back to that Pay & Go SMS Centre number! So frustrating.......

It must be the sim as the phone reads the number off the sim card.
It's either wrong or faulty.
Out of interest, was the phone bought on contract or PAYG?

I purchased the phone new from Microsoft & it's open to any network - Pay&Go or monthly.

Then it has to be the wrong sim.

Open to any network but pay monthly and P&G sims are different. You need the correct sim....
