How come I have the Sony flagship phone and have yet to recieve the ICS update, (3 weeks after release by Sony.) And now there is a new version of Android availiable for Samsung etc...................?????????????????

Sony have told me that it is up to o2 to clear the update and o2 have told me that it is up to Sony to release it. True???????

I've got a feeling it might be O2 thats withholding info. Sony have released the update. Its upto the individual carriers to tweak it for their network and do checks. I dont think its in sonys hands anymore. It very frustrating when you get conflicting information like that. When all we want is the truth so we know where we stand. Sony and O2 must see all the negative comments over the net regarding the release of ICS and think how impatient we are. But I dont think we would be half as bad if they were keeping everyone upto date. Sony/ O2 customers have been kept in the dark for too long is there any wonder that people are questioning the quality of customer support and the ability to keep promises made.

o2 are now solely responsible to get us the ics update, and previous versions o2 for some reason are so slow with it, three and orange have released it 3 weeks ago for three and last week orange infact o2 still haven't released 2.3.4 for the galaxy s they are that slow, i bought the xperia s and the only reason was that i was told buy o2 in the store i could go home put it in my lap top and update it to ics which is just lies tbh, come on o2 you really need to get your act together

I did some asking around and it seems the experts are still testing the software. Since it's a major upgrade, they are working with Sony to make sure everything works just the way it should. Because of that, I can't give you any dates, sorry.

If I get any additional info, I'll let you know ASAP.

Leonard, it is great that you have been asking about the update, and have found some answers. I wonder where the "gurus" who said 2-3 weeks got their info from. I do wonder in this business world where the bottom line is very important, why the software team is not working to an agreed schedule, rather than a non specific date. Not a great advert for O2? Or is it me?

Hi Slyone,

They're probably working to an agreed schedule, but don't want to set the wrong expectation. You never no with testing, I guess. There can always be a hiccup.

Hi Leonard. Surely a company the size, and with the stature of, o2, should be able to process these updates more rapidly. A company the size of Sony should have all this stuff in place. What is the info on the JB update?

I was told thurs 26th july by a guru but Leonard's post seems to rebuff that.

I can understand you'd like a fixed date, but they're testing to make sure everything's great.

Perhaps the gurus have more info than I do, but all the info I have is in the post above.
