Sony Xperia SP woes continue

Anonymous
Not applicable

Here we go again......

I've had 3x Standby system crashes this week.

You notice the time is several hours out and then the phone goes into brick mode! (have to use pin again!)

I've done a repair via Sony Companion but still these events occur.

What can be done?

I just think 4.3 was a bad update.
Remember it caused no end of issues for Samsung too, particularly on the S3.
There are still some manufacturers that haven't released 4.3 for some or all of their devices either because of issues.
Sony should have been brave and said no to updating some of their phones like other have.

I took the plunge and rang them...

Options...

(a) Another Software repair (with phone powered off, hold down a button and connect cable to PC)

(b) Book the phone in for a repair....

Questions...

There's no date confirmed for the 207 update, so would it be worth hanging fire until it arrives?

How likely is the phone faulty in addition to the 4.3 update woes? (so what can Sony repair really do?)

Could there be any Android apps (that don't agree with 4.3)  cause a crash? (Use to happen with Symbian)

1 - .207 has been certified so it's on it's way. Could be any day.
2 - I'm convinced it's purely software
3 - I ran mine with no apps installed and it made no difference.

I had the crash reboot problem but fixed it by performing repair through pccompanion version 12.1.A.1.205 seems pretty much flawless now for me however I always make backup copies of my phones firmware prior to update being available so if I dont like the update I can flash a previos version via flashtool. Let me know if you require a O2 jb4.1 for your Xperia sp and I will send you a link to download from my Dropbox plus any instructions if you need them 🙂

I'm not surprised. It was truly horrible. Not sure what happened to kit kat as I lost interest when I sold mine.
