Sony Xperia SP woes continue

Anonymous
Not applicable

Here we go again......

I've had 3x Standby system crashes this week.

You notice the time is several hours out and then the phone goes into brick mode! (have to use pin again!)

I've done a repair via Sony Companion but still these events occur.

What can be done?

Are you on the very latest O2 software?
Should be 12.1.A.1.205
I find this very stable and a huge improvement over the original 4.3 rubbish that was released.
I used to use SUS rather than PCC but Sony have now withdrawn that support so the only other option is to flash using Flashtool.
.205 can be downloaded from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54148804&postcount=107
Flashtool available here http://developer.sonymobile.com/services/flash-tool/

Well apart from another restore back to factory settings it's difficult to see what else you can do apart from flashing a different firmware. Is the phone still under warranty? If so I would be contacting Sony.

@MI5is really our Xperia expert so hopefully he can suggest something else?

If this was my phone I'd be approaching the manufacturer too.

Hi

Yes still under warranty....  (bought on Refresh programme Sept 2013)

Sony just say to do the Companion repair and o2 blame Sony, so am caught in a loop.

o2 say I can have it sent for repair but it was working fine until 4.3 came along.

How have you spoken to Sony ?

Try their uk support site and request a repair.

I wouldn't use O2 repairs dept. Sony have a better take in their hardware and software.

Hopefully MI5 may know a trick or two. I'm not sure you can revert back to a previous firmware on that phone.

Not sure when hitting UK and if addresses the freezing!

On Sony page it says Warranty valid to: 15/10/12  HOW COMES?

The Sony website is always wrong for warranty dates.
