Sony Xperia S MMS problems

Been having problems with this for quite a while now. My phone can access the internet via 3G, I can use messaging and email applications without any issue. However, I cannot send or receive MMS messages. I have re-installed the APN settings for the phone (twice), performed a factory reset and tried without any 3rd party apps installed and spoken to a "guru" and manually confirmed the APN settings. Has anyone else seen this problem with either the Sony Xperia S or possibly another Android handset?

try reset apn to default. worked for me. the pay monthly ip address (mms proxy) starts 82.132.254.1 .

Already tried that. I've done a Factory Reset, I've done a restore default APNs, I've had tech support send me APN settings (which created a new o2 Post Pay APN) and I've tried texting ACTIVE to 2020 (which just returns an error message).

Have you called CS to get MMS reprovisioned on your account? Sometimes it needs a kick to get it going again....

The Guru I spoke to (both of them) have assured me that MMS is active on my account, however the problem did seem to start shortly after I upgraded my phone and changed my tariff so perhaps another call to CS might be in order. The last piece of advice the Guru gave me was to take the phone in store because it would need to be inspected. I'm totally unconvinced that the store staff will be able to fix it.

It can be active on your account but not working.....

Ask them to deactivate it and then reactivate it. That will reset it and sometimetimes that is enough to kick start mms again. It has worked for other people on the forum. But you do need to make sure they do that, just being told it is active isn't enough.

I spent the entire day with this same problem, pulling my hair out!

I tired about 6 or 7 different settings, downloaded them countless times, spent nearly an hour with two different Gurus, and most of the day on the internet.

But i found some setting that actually worked! Strangely enough they were from a post nearly 2 years old, and relating to a complately different phone, but here is what finally worked for me when EVERYTHING else failed:

Name: O2 Mobile Web
APN: payandgo.o2.co.uk
Proxy: 193.113.200.195
Port: 8080
Username: payandgo
Password: password
Server: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 (This seemed to be the key setting, O2 suggest leaving this blank, which doesn't work!)
MMSC: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
MMS Proxy: 193.113.200.195
MMS port: 8080
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0 (I couldn't actually relate to this on the Xperia, but left them there just in case)
MCC: 234
MNC: 10
Auth Type: <Not Set>

Strange, I have the server not set on my Android on Pay Monthly and it works fine.

 

All the other settings, bar the APN and User name of course are the same.
