Samsung Galaxy Siii i9300 - Power On - Stuck on the first screen

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi. I have developed an issue with my S3 in the last 24 hours, where when I power it on, it locks on the very first screen that appears saying "Samsung GALAXY sIII GT-I9300". No matter what button I press it doesn't do anything.

When I go for the reboot approach (Volume/Power/Home buttons together) I get a little picture of the Green Android and a message saying "Downloading - Do not turn off target". This suggests it is doing an ODIN download.

I have taken the battery out and replaced. I have used a second battery. I have cleaned all connections. However, the issue will not go away. I have seen suggestions where people suggest that I should get the othe reboot screen and select various options. Unfortunately, I can't get to any of those screens.

Phone is about 30 months old. I'm on a SIM only contract and really like this phone, hence I've not upgraded it. I could easily Upgrade and get a new phone, but it still leaves me with the issue of all the data, apps and infor stored on the current phone.

Any bright ideas out there that may help people??

Regards

No, it isn't downloading anything. It is waiting for you to connect to Odin in order to flash firmware, which should fix your problem.

I don't recall if Samsung changed the boot procedure where the Android Boot Menu doesn't appear. However if you try pressing Volume Up/Home and Power simultaneously, it should bring you the menu. In Download mode, you can only remove the battery power or force a reset by using ADB commands.

If you can get into the menu, you can force a system restore if needed. Anything else is a cable and software fix with Odin 3.10.6. There is others however I have recovered my handsets with that many times.

I hope this helps. And for gods sake, don't send it to O2 Repair (Anovo UK) as they are a useless bunch of lying muppets and you can quote me on that.
