No data connection across Gloucestershire

Anonymous
Not applicable

Is anyone else having this problem? Problem is affecting everyone I know on O2, across completely different devices (ranging from Iphones to Android devices). For the past 6 months there have been new coverage black spots,  and existing data speeds have dropped to nothing.

Any "H" signal (I think this is 3.5g?) stops transmitting data at random intervals, despite the signal quality remaining at 5 bars. Examples I can give personally are:

  1. Stroud near Dudbridge. 5-bar connection, internet connection drops in and out throughout the day.
  2. Cheltenham, anywhere within 1 mile of the Promenade. Colleagues on O2 swear they haven't had a data connection since some time last year. Again there's a constant 5-bar H connection. Sometimes get a 20-second burst of data once an hour or so.
  3. Stonehouse. 5-bar 2G connection. Not sure if this is just because 2G is so slow generally, but I can't load text-only web pages without my phone telling me I'm offline. It used to work previously, although it was of course very slow.

Bit of a shame because O2 website is showing no faults, my colleagues in Cheltenham are moving to Vodafone but I still have over a year left on my contract.

Mobile signal across most of Bristol is absolutely perfect, so it's not the phone (as I said earlier this is affecting everyone I know who uses O2).

Unfortunately it's the all too common network congestion issue that is seen across the whole country.
Until the fibre network gets upgraded it won't get any better....
