Nexus 5x unlocked?

Anonymous

Can anyone confirm for me that my LG Nexus 5x I upgraded to with o2 is completely unlocked from the o2 network. Its my understanding that Nexus devices are totally network free... I think! I just need someone to tell me this is correct. Thanks.

Its a myth, nexus devices can indeed be network locked.
Check in your myo2 and click the unlock button.

It should be. Just try a sim from another network in it and you'll soon know if it is or it isn't.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

I thought the Nexus 5X was only available on Refresh from O2? If that's the case then the handset would need to be paid off before it could be unlocked? Someone can correct if wrong but that was my understanding at the time it was released...

I'm pretty sure that strange rule only applies to iPhones.

All Nexus devices are (should be) sim free.

If not, you can unlock it through your MyO2 http://www.o2.co.uk/myo2

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

I googled my info from Techradar, EE and Giffgaff.....all said it would probably be locked... I stand corrected if it was sold already unlocked...

Thanks for the replies. I checked the my o2 unlock device section ( I had no idea this existed in the app) and it's says I can unlock at any time. It's still not clear realt so the only solution is trying a different networks sim.

That's the quickest way to check, for sure.
