Since updating to the new version of myo2 this morning, it now requires location services. Trouble is even after closing the app it leaves gps active which kills the battery. Only fix is to reboot device. Anyone else? Few on play store reporting same

It works ok for me. I have location services switched off, opening or closing the app doesn't switch it on. I have it installed on three devices without any issues.

Location services off on all 3 devices? Might just be if you have it enabled to begin with. Anyway uninstalling fixed it so must be the app.

Will just use website version until they fix it

Yes both phones and the tablet are off to begin with and using the app doesn't activate location services at all. Tried it with location on and exiting the app allows me then to switch off location services.

Issue needs flagging to @Toby to feedback - That's gonna be very irritating having to keep switching location services off and on all the time manually.

Also, why does My O2 need to know your location anyway?

Can I just ask a (probable dumbo) question here about location services in general?  (nothing to do with MyO2 app)

Reading this thread I have checked on my Note 3 and location services seems to be on by default as I certainly haven't switched it on.....What's it's overall purpose and should I turn it off?..Smiley Embarassed

Simply so that the phone and apps know where you are.
Obviously required for Google Maps and the like, but not for My O2 ??

So it wont be a problem for me, if I leave it on?
