Mobile Data Disconnected

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am currently in China using an HTC One M8 which I had on an O2 contract when I was in the UK. O2 helped me unlock/unlatch the phone before i came out here, but using a China Mobile 4G sim I'm unable to pick up 4G at all. In the Mobile Data option of Settings, the only option is the 'Disconnected' option. Does anyone have any idea how I can get 4G on my phone in this situation?

What frequency is the 4g on you are trying to connect to?
It may not be a band that your phone has capability of.

This website suggests China Mobile is 2500 Mhz.

You'll get 3g on 2100 but not 4g from that provider.

I've just been on to HTC online support and have been advised the One M8 does not pick up 4G in China. As I switched from O2 monthly to pay and go, had my phone unlocked by O2 and had to pay off the phone up front, as was the O2 Chat advice on my move to China. Do I have a valid complaint here? Who should I contact?

I don't see any grounds for complaint tbh.
The M8 specs are determined by HTC and the phone you have will be different to that sold in the China market.
You can use it for calls, texts and 3g so all is not lost.

I wouldn't think you have any comeback at all to be honest. The phone was sold for use in the UK

it would have been nice to have been told by O2 that what I wanted wasn't possible rather than encouraging me to pay off the phone!
