Is it possible to download and use the Viber app on a Samsung Tocco Lite S5230?

Hello everyone,

Is it possible to download and use the Viber app on a Samsung Tocco Lite S5230 mobile?

Has anyone done this and used Viber successfully on that phone or not? Are there any settings that I need to know for this phone to use Viber?

If not, does the Samsung Galaxy Pocket work with the Viber app instead? Are there any settings that I need to know for this phone to use Viber?

Please advise.

Thanks.

Regards,

The Tocco Lite is not android so unless you can find viber on the Samsung app store then I doubt it will work. I'm not familiar with the "Pocket" but if it's android it's got a chance of working. Why not email the Viber Dev Team, they are usually very good at responding to emails. http://www.viber.com/

Thanks very much for the prompt reply.

I have now sent an email to the Viber Dev team. Let's see what they come back with. Will post back once I hear from them.

Popping back to ask how I can ensure that the Viber app will definitely use Wifi and not 3G or 4G so that the calls will definitely be free and the data allowance won't be affected or used up? Is there a Viber setting that needs to be changed for this?

Thanks.

It will use whatever data connection the phone is currently connected to, ie if on a wifi connection it will use wifi, if on data it will use data etc. If you want to ensure wifi only just turn off cell data when using viber to call.

You don't need to be concerned with 4G. Your phone isn't capable of it, and O2 doesn't have it yet. Come to think of it, I took a look at the specs for your phone and it isn't 3G capable and doesn't have WiFi either.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

Thanks Bambino.

Much appreciated. At least someone has confirmed what I thought. The Tocco Lite is NOT capable of working with Viber.

Can you please confirm if the Samsung Galaxy Pocket is or not? I have been told 2 different things by the o2 techs today. 1 says that the Samsung Galaxy Pocket will work with Viber, but the other one said it won't?

How can I definitely check this before I purchase that phone? Can you tell me or confirm this? What should I be looking for..............? Wifi, 3G etc?

I would like a similar phone to the Tocco Lite that would work with Viber using Wifi.

Thanks again.

According to the specs the Pocket should be OK http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_pocket_s5300-4612.php

Minimum requirement for viber is andriod 2 and up, the Pocket runs 2.3.3.

Thanks MI5.

I was holding off from getting the phone until I had definite confirmation from an official source that the Pocket will work with Viber.

But that seems doubtful as I said that the o2 techs have said 2 different things. Am worried that if I do purchase it and it doesn't work with Viber, then it's a wasted exercise.

Do you think that I should defo go ahead and make the purchase?

Not only that, according to the Samsung spec sheet here:-

http://www.samsung.com/hk_en/consumer/mobile/mobile-phones/smartphone/GT-S5300ZKATGY-spec

The "Pocket" is an Android phone, so surely it should work with Viber using Wifi which is what I'm looking to do.

Thanks again.
