Hi

I am due to receive my upgrade today and am going from an Iphone 4S to Galaxy S5.  Can I keep my own number and how to I transfer all my contacts to the new phone?

Both phones are with O2.

Hi

Yes you keep your number.

You can use Gmail to sync your contacts across.

This may help http://www.samsung.com/uk/mobileappsandservices/easy-phone-sync.html

Edit ; a similar post here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5577524 with help info.

Also as Both phones take a Micro sim so just insert your original SIM card ,unless you have a 3G version only and are wanting to use a 4G tariff.

If this is so then Use this form to sim swap which moves your mobile number and tariff from the original sim to the new one.

http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk

Takes from a few minutes to approx 24 hours for your services to fully settle. Turning the new phone with new SIM card in off and on helps the re connection.

Or an O2 shop can do this for you.

If you are upgrading in store they will do the sim swap and transfer your contacts for you (make sure you have a gmail account set up first).
There are other things you might need to do if you want to copy pictures and music etc, so let us know if that's the case.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)
