From the title you guys can probably guess the situation... So my question is regarding water damage. Does anyone have any advice or have had personal experience with water damage? My primary question is: is there anything i can do?

First thing to do is switch the phone off and dont try to use it. Remove the sim card  Usual advice is to place in a sealed bag of rice and leave it at least a week and hope that it drys out. Wipe all the surpluss water from the phone first with a dry cloth and tissues.

Loads of advice online such as this :

If this fails, check your home insurance or bank account for cover for personal items.

So in a sealed bag of rice, would a day or 2 do the job?

Best to leave it for a week if possible. Don't use a hairdryer as this tends to push water into all the crevicies.

Issue is water ingression has happened no matter what you do.

Oxidation from the minerals in the water and possibly growths of mould from the nasties found in toilets can happen inside which can cause failures down the line. 😞

It's worth checking any mobile phone insurance, home contents insurance or bank account terms and conditions as some offer cover for liquid damage.

I hope I turns back on and you get some further use out of it.

The important thing is not to turn it on too soon. Water is fine on elextrics, it's when you try passing a current through it that you're up a creek.

I've dropped a few in the loo (need to stop putting phones in my back pocket) and all of them have worked fine after leaving them to dry out for about a week. My Blackberry was still going strong 4 years later after a trip in Toys R Us toilet. grin

About 4 or 5 years ago, my wife dropped her phone in the loo and i stuck it in the oven at 50c for about half an hour. Still works today!

I wouldn't choose to 'bake' my handset in an oven.
