General update question.

Just a general question.

If for example I update from kit kat to lollipop and then factory reset the device do I go back to kit kat or does a clean install of lollipop become the factory default?

Just something I have always wondered about!

The ROM is written to the flash memory and will permanently overwrite the previous ROM, so the latest flash will always be the only ROM on the phone.

No the latest update will stay on there, it's the settings & icons that will return to where they originally were.

Remember to back up your device before so as not to lose anything
