Why does my Samsung galaxy s3 mini say it's charging when it's not even plugged into the socket or with the charger USB attached. Also my s3 mini is temperamental in charging

Your charge port is damaged. You need to get it in to be fixed.

I would suggest trying Samsung before O2 repairs.

Samsung will likely repair it under the warranty. O2 are quite likely to put it down to user damage. If it's possible always deal directly with the manufacturer.
